Accounts & Bookkeeping

Books that stay tidy, accounts that land on time

Day-to-day books kept spotless and year-end statutory accounts prepared and filed on time — so your records tell the truth and your deadlines look after themselves.

Bookkeeping is the ongoing recording of every transaction your business makes; statutory accounts are the formal year-end summary filed at Companies House. We handle both — keeping your books accurate all year and turning them into compliant accounts, filed well before the deadline.

The plain-English promise

Numbers you can actually trust

Good bookkeeping is quietly the foundation of everything else — your tax, your VAT, your borrowing, your decisions. When the books are messy, every one of those jobs gets harder and more expensive. When they're clean, the whole year runs smoother.

We keep your records reconciled and up to date, whether that's us doing the bookkeeping start to finish or tidying up behind your cloud software. Then, at year-end, we turn those figures into full statutory accounts — prepared to standard, checked line by line, and filed at Companies House on time.

You get a clear picture of where the business stands, not a shoebox of receipts you dread. And because the same team does your bookkeeping and your accounts, nothing falls through the cracks between the two.

Reconciling business records and preparing year-end accounts
Is this you?

Does any of this ring a bell?

  • Your receipts and invoices live in three places and none of them agree.
  • You only find out how the business did months after the year has ended.
  • The Companies House filing deadline always seems to arrive too soon.
  • You're not confident the numbers in your software are actually right.
  • Bank reconciliation is a job you keep meaning to get to.
  • Your last accountant handed you accounts you didn't really understand.

If you recognised yourself more than once, tidy books are exactly what we'll put back in your hands.

How it works

Getting your books in order, step by step

  1. We take stock

We look at how you record things now, spot the gaps, and agree who does what — you keep only the bits you want to.

  2. We keep it clean

Month by month we reconcile, categorise and check, so the numbers stay accurate instead of piling up for year-end.

  3. We prepare and file

When your year ends, we turn tidy books into full statutory accounts, run them past you, and file them on time.

Your Companies House deadline

A private limited company must file its annual accounts with Companies House within 9 months of its year-end — so a 31 March year-end means filing by 31 December. First accounts after incorporation run to 21 months from the registration date. Late filing triggers automatic penalties, and we make sure you're never near them.

Questions, answered

Common questions about accounts and bookkeeping

Bookkeeping is the day-to-day job of recording every transaction — sales, purchases, expenses and bank movements — as they happen. Statutory accounts are the formal year-end summary built from those records and filed at Companies House. Do the bookkeeping well and the accounts almost write themselves; skip it and year-end becomes a scramble.

A private company files its annual accounts with Companies House within nine months of the year-end — a 31 March year-end means a 31 December deadline. Your very first set of accounts after incorporation is due 21 months from the registration date. We track your date and file with room to spare.

Software records data, but it doesn't decide whether an entry is right, spot a duplicated invoice, or reconcile a stray bank payment. That judgement is bookkeeping. We work inside your software, so you keep the real-time dashboard and we make sure what it shows is actually accurate.

Yes — that's one of the most common jobs we pick up. We'll untangle where things stand, correct the errors, reconcile the accounts back to the bank, and get you onto a clean footing. From there, staying tidy is far easier than you'd expect.
