Start your business on the right foot
From your very first invoice to your first hire, we'll get your structure right, your compliance calendar sorted, and your numbers ready for whoever needs to see them.
A start-up accountant helps you launch on solid foundations: choosing between sole trader and limited company, registering with HMRC and Companies House, setting up cloud bookkeeping, and mapping your first-year deadlines. We do all of that, so you can spend your energy building the business, not decoding tax rules.
Big idea, solid foundations
Starting out is exciting, and a little daunting. There's a company to form, a bank account to open, HMRC to register with, and a fog of rules about what you can claim and when things are due. Get the foundations right now and you'll save yourself a world of untangling later.
We sit down with you before the paperwork starts. Should you trade as a sole trader or set up a limited company? What's the smartest way to draw money out? Which cloud software fits how you actually work? We answer all of it in plain English, then set everything up properly the first time.
From there you get a clear first-year calendar, books that are always up to date, and accounts tidy enough to put in front of a lender or investor. No guesswork, no missed deadlines — just a business built to grow.

Sound like where you are?
- You're not sure whether to be a sole trader or a limited company.
- You don't know which taxes you'll owe, or when they're due.
- You're keeping receipts in a shoebox and hoping for the best.
- You need proper accounts to apply for funding or a business loan.
- You want cloud software set up, but don't know where to start.
- You'd love one person who can just tell you what to do next.
Every one of those has a simple answer — and getting them sorted early is exactly what we're here for.

Your first-year deadlines to know
If you register as self-employed, tell HMRC by 5 October after the tax year you started, and file your first Self Assessment by 31 January. A new limited company files its first accounts 21 months after incorporation, with corporation tax due 9 months and 1 day after its year-end. We track every one of these for you.
I came to them with an idea and a laptop, and left with a limited company, Xero set up, and a calendar I actually understand. They made the scary part feel easy.SSophie R.

Start-up questions, answered
It depends on your profits, your appetite for admin, and how much personal protection you want. A limited company can be more tax-efficient once profits grow and keeps your personal finances separate, but it comes with extra filing. We'll run the numbers for your situation and give you a straight recommendation — not a hedge.
If you're self-employed, you must tell HMRC by 5 October following the end of the tax year you started trading. A new limited company is automatically flagged to HMRC on incorporation, but you'll still need to register for corporation tax within three months of starting to trade. We handle these registrations so nothing is missed.
Less than most founders fear. We build a fixed monthly fee around exactly what your young business needs — nothing you don't — so it's predictable and grows only as you do. You'll get a clear quote up front, with no surprise bills.
Absolutely. Lenders and investors want clean, credible figures they can trust in minutes. We keep your books accurate in real time and can prepare management accounts, forecasts and projections that stand up to scrutiny — the sort of numbers that get a "yes".
