VAT returns, filed digitally and filed right
Accurate VAT returns filed digitally under Making Tax Digital, on the scheme that suits you best — so you reclaim what you're owed, pay what you should, and never miss a deadline.
Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT is HMRC's rule that VAT-registered businesses must keep digital records and file every VAT return through compatible software rather than by hand. We keep your records MTD-ready, choose the right VAT scheme, and file each return accurately and on time.
VAT without the quarterly stress
VAT is deceptively tricky. Get the scheme wrong, misjudge what you can reclaim, or file a day late, and it costs you — in cash, in penalties, or both. Since Making Tax Digital became mandatory, it also has to be done through software, the right way. We take the whole thing off your desk.
We keep your records digital and MTD-compliant, work out which VAT scheme leaves you best off, and file every return straight from your software to HMRC. Standard, Flat Rate or Cash Accounting — we'll pick the one that genuinely fits how you trade, not just the default.
You get returns that are accurate, submitted on time, and easy to understand, plus a clear heads-up on what to pay before each deadline. No spreadsheets held together with hope, and no nasty quarterly surprises.

- You're not sure you're on the best VAT scheme for your business.
- Making Tax Digital left you wondering if your records even count as compliant.
- You're close to the £90,000 threshold and unsure when to register.
- Working out what VAT you can and can't reclaim is a guessing game.
- The quarterly deadline always seems to sneak up on you.
- You're still keying figures into HMRC by hand and hoping they're right.

The VAT registration threshold
You must register for VAT once your taxable turnover passes £90,000 in any rolling 12-month period (the threshold rose from £85,000 in April 2024). You can also register voluntarily below that if it works in your favour — we'll tell you honestly whether it does.
MTD filing deadlines
Under Making Tax Digital, VAT returns must be filed through compatible software, keeping digital records throughout. Most returns and payments are due one calendar month and 7 days after the quarter ends — so a quarter ending 31 March is due by 7 May. We keep you comfortably ahead of every one.
Common questions about VAT and MTD
Making Tax Digital, or MTD, is HMRC's requirement that VAT-registered businesses keep their records digitally and file every VAT return through compatible software — not by typing figures into the HMRC website. It's been mandatory for all VAT-registered businesses since April 2022. We keep you fully compliant without you having to think about it.
Registration becomes compulsory once your taxable turnover exceeds £90,000 over any rolling 12 months, or if you expect to pass it within the next 30 days. Some businesses register voluntarily below the threshold to reclaim input VAT. We watch your turnover and advise on the right moment either way.
It depends on your margins, your customers and how much VAT you incur on purchases. The Flat Rate Scheme suits some small businesses; Cash Accounting helps cash flow by letting you pay VAT only once customers pay you; Standard accounting suits others. We run the comparison and recommend the one that leaves you best off.
Only if they connect to HMRC through bridging software that keeps a digital link end to end — a plain spreadsheet you copy figures from by hand no longer qualifies. In practice, proper cloud software is simpler and less error-prone, and we'll get you set up on it so compliance is automatic.
